EODS carries first training for Human Rights Analysts in EU EOMs

The four-day training took place from 22 - 25 September 2026 and was facilitated by two experts, Anne Marlborough and Camille Forite. Both drew on their significant human rights expertise and extensive experience in election observation to enrich the event.

EODS would like to thank Alejandro Moledo, European Disability Forum (EDF) Deputy Director and Head of Policy, who joined the event on the third day of training sessions, taking part in the discussion and providing an update on the methodology for observing the participation of people with disabilities in electoral processes.

The event gathered 12 participants from different EU Member States, including Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Greece, Italy, Malta, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Spain and Sweden.

This training aimed at providing participants with tools and knowledge in order to participate in EU EOM core teams as Human Rights Analysts. Within an EOM, the Human Rights Analyst is responsible for providing an assessment of the human rights situation in the country, in the context of elections. That involves analysing reports of politically motivated intimidation, arrests, discriminatory practices or human rights violations and producing regular assessments of formal and informal violations of fundamental freedoms, including civil and political rights, throughout the country.
